2nd Meeting - exploring shop spaces

Research on concept stores:

An example of a themed shop opening; usage of a distinct colour on staff as well as guests draws reference to the branding of the shop, personality of it's owners, and leaves a lasting impression of the event.

WEDGE Hairdresser

As discussed, the series of proposed domestic product smashings could take place in a proper house-pop-up-shop, with maids and butlers to boot. Interior design could be anything from 1950s to 2050.

Possibly taking the pop-up-shop a step further, incorporating a cafe as a social venue allows for commissioners and viewers to discuss their artistic viewpoints right where the art is.

The London shops walkabout






























Cyberdog at Camden Town
One big techno shop, complete with a DJ counter, neon lights, and florescent clothing. Certain products on the ground level were displayed on shelves behind glass with dedicated illumination, this highlights the products amidst the dark shop interior.

Amongst other shop spaces visited: Hamleys, Rainforest Cafe
and others analyzed: Apple, Abercrombie and Fitch
Purpose of the shop visits was to note their use of themes and how this influences the space, customer interaction with the space, display of products, and overall experience within.
